Hi besties,
It’s American Thanksgiving weekend (y’all really stretch this holiday out huh) so I wanted to keep it simple, a list of things I’m thankful for. But first, I wanted to note my American Thanksgiving fomo. [Stephen A Smith voice] Now you KNOW I respect Canadian Thanksgiving. It’s further away from Christmas, a little less pilgramy, better weather but like all things Canadian, it’s completely ignored for the larger, American counterpart. Y’all have the Thanksgiving episodes – which yes, we can watch during our Thanksgiving but it’s not the same. You have the NFL doubleheaders and what do we have? The CFL. It’s embarrassing!
Canadian Thanksgiving gets to fly under the radar while twitter joins together in November to dunk on poorly constructed plates, yell about fascist relatives, and gather at hometown bars – something I’ve never really understood but maybe it’s because I only still talk to a total of two people from high school. Maybe that’s a me problem.
Trudeau senior was onto something when he said living next to the US was like sleeping in bed with an elephant. Except the elephant is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and we’re the Arkells once again performing at the Grey Cup (did they perform this year? Who knows, they may as well have).
But onto what’s important: Things Liz is Thankful for
my lovely friends and family
Had to shout y’all out obvs
Louis Tomlinson
Oh Louis, my sweet boy. His sophomore album Faith in the Future is now out and I highly recommend giving it a listen. It’s a great blend of britpop, indie, and even some electronic vibes — a great combination of Louis’s influences and the sounds he feels most comfortable residing in. It’s such a rewarding feeling to watch an artist you love come into their own and start making the music they’ve always wanted to make.
This account within itself is art. During the “oh god is twitter actually going to die??” panic the other week, I followed their instagram account just to ensure I never lose their posts.

eggnog
I love eggnog and I’m tired of being shamed for it! I love eggnog lattes, eggnog cookies, rum and eggnog, eggnog cookies, eggnog in my morning coffee, GOD I could go on. It’s your season girl and I respect you.
Youth to the People’s dream mask
I’m not a huge skincare person. Everything I know about skincare I learned from Hiram during quarantine. But I do know what I like, and what I like is feeling like a fancy, rich person during my nightly routine. Oh let me make sure to use my dream mask before retiring for the evening, she says in an exaggerated mid atlantic accent. To be fair, it does seem to make my skin brighter and feel more hydrated, but that’s second to the vibes.
Hunter Harris’ Hung Up newsletter
I’ve absolutely linked Hung Up in previous issues, but I need to shout my love for Hunter Harris from the rooftops. She’s such an excellent writer with such a strong personality. It’s always a delight to read and I really respect her perspective on all matters celebrity. Plus, she is the only other person I know that references The Departed as much as myself. A kindred spirit.
Matt Damon singing Sweet Caroline at karaoke
This was discussed on the Who?Weekly patreon so unfortunately I cannot share the footage but I love when celebrities are exactly who you think they are. Like of course Matt “how ‘bout them apples” Damon is singing Sweet Caroline (buh buh buh) at karaoke!! I’d be disappointed if he wasn’t!

To Hockey With Love: US Thanksgiving Edition
If you aren’t subscribed to To Hockey With Love, what are you even doing?
This piece is a fascinating, in-depth look at a couple that has been such a central figure in our cultural zeitgeist for nearly a decade. The focus on the media portrayal of Brangelina, both as a couple and following their separation, is something that I find so intriguing and important when it comes to understanding how we are directed to feel the way we do about certain celebrities. Governments aren’t the only ones participating in propaganda.

Till next time!
